E-FESTIVAL IS AROUND THE CORNER

The conversations YOU'LL be having and who you'll be having them with ... plus, what else is going on with us

Guys and Girls ... it's nearly here ...

As promised, E-Festival is JUST around the corner, so the time is nigh to start getting excited (if you haven't already ...)

E-Festival gives you the chance to get involved in discussions surrounding the big issues. This year Creative is playing house to two major discussions and hosting a bevy our brightest talent on two panels designed to give you a better idea of what it means to make your way into and through 'the industry.'

The Creative Entrepreneur's Toolkit: A How-To Guide for Young Artists

This discussion panel, enlisting the help of a range of creative minds, from singer songwriter Laura Imbruglia, to designer Natalie Wood, to film maker Alice Angus (and many, many, many more) will focus on the practicalities behind a creative career. How do you support yourself creatively and financially? What's the next step after you've finished your labour of love, but the bills are piling up (and have been the whole time you've been locked in a darkened room maniacally writing/painting/singing ...)

2018: A New Frontier In Digital Arts

At this very moment, the Australian art scene is heralding an impatient, growing-up-so-fast wunderkind ... suddenly, everyone, from the media to the academics is watching and wanting to know more. Digital Arts is no longer reserved for gamers, it is now in high demand for advertising, film clips, websites and so much more. Join a panel including people like The Age's award winning videogame journalist Jason Hill, artist Adam Nash and Good Game presenter Steven O'Donnell aka Bajo and let the games (and discussion) begin.

Vibewire wants your input to make E-Festival the go-to for informative, educational, creative and inspiring discussion. Stay tuned for exactly how you can do that, and what's in it for you. For now, check out more on our discussion topics and their panelists (in the subheadings under the Discussion image) and start thinking about what questions you need answered.

As usual, we are accepting your submissions and loving them. There has been some fantastic poetry come in over the weekend, you're all getting rather political these days. Such is the power of the written word huh - what was that old debating topic they trotted our in high school debating competitions ... the pen is mightier than the sword?

A new Word For The Week shall be in the Writing Column (far left of your page) so get busy with your responses. Use these exercises to get the creative juices flowing, don't self edit as you write, just write it allll out.

Hopefully a new Round Up will be coming your way asap, so there is still time for you to let us know any inclusions you may want. Just contact the team as usual (see address below).

We are still on the hunt for Vintage Reviews, a section that will be receiving a lot more attention in the weeks to come, so please tell us what books changed you (and, please, don't feel it has to be Tolstoy, I'm all about the simplicity of Enid Blyton).

Have a fantastic week, and keep writing - oh, and a little Helpful Hint to help you on your way ...

As a writer, the most important thing you can do is separate yourself from the narrator.

Much Love,

Have any other topics been decided upon yet, or anything else. I only really caught the tail end of this last year...

Vintage reviews?

Posted by Margaret Tran at 2008-04-02 23:38
What do you mean by 'vintage'? Is it just restricted to books? Cuz I was thinking of doing 'vintage' TV like, say, Gladiators circa 1995-97, or is that still too recent to be considered 'vintage'? Can the term 'vintage' be interpreted in any way? Like say, vintage customer service, vintage lollies, vintage TV shows on ABC (cue Spellbinders and Art Attack)..

Otherwise, books are fine =)

hahahaha as hilarious as a gladiator review sounds, it'd be great if you could keep it within the literary realm. we want people to review the books that changed them/made them want to write/act as continual inspiration ... if you go to the 'writing' panel on the creative page (far left) there is the brief for Vintage Reviews there.

can't wait to see what you come up with
