Jenna Chaitowitz explores the juxtapositions of the fashion world.

Strut

Strut

Mechanical motions

Eyes glazed

Emotions…vacated

Robotic figures

Soulless

Or do textiles acquire souls?

Does each stitch represent a feeling?

Can a thread be threatening?

A furious fibre?

Or perhaps a passionate pattern?

These robotic machines

Represent science

Partnership of the anatomy and its outer layer

Materializes acute angles

Personifying mathematics

These calculated elements clash with

The overused adjectives

‘Floaty, feminine, frilly, flouncy’

Structure versus spontaneity

Time versus twirly tulle.

Science +

Mathematics=

Dominate the plank

Directing one towards

The selling of the soul.

the rhythm of this piece it perfect for the subject; it actually forced me to imagine what you were describing (against my will!?!) while I was reading it. robots wearing couture. mechanics tweaking make-up. the unnatural stylisation of human movement. With all the current media attention on AFW, this is a most timely piece. Strut just became a dirty word, and its about time.
