Win a double-pass to Tripod's show in the Melbourne Comedy Festival on Thursday 3rd April at 9:30pm. Entries close 5pm Thursday 27th March.

After supporting the Presidents of the United States on tour and winning an ARIA Award, you cold be mistaken for thinking that Tripod are a rock outfit. Tripod are happy to indulge that misconception. Vibewire.net decided to find out more:

1. When the aliens arrive, I hope they bring... their bulbous heads, glittering gowns, spandex bodysuits and ray guns.. Must have ray guns. I'm a big fan of the aliens from the 50's and 60's. E.T? Go home.

2. Ignorance is... human. It's what will keep us plundering and lead us to inevitable demise. Oh you already know that. Actually, if ignorance didn't exist, it's not that the world would be blissful, we'd just be saved from self-righteous, toolish know-it-all that make the right thing to do so difficult to do. I used to be ignorance to the world around me. I wasn't happier, I was just more powerful. I did stupid things I wouldn't dream of doing now. Knowledge isn't power. Stupid is power. Oh I don't know.

3. Pop culture is... too populist for me. Sub-culture is where it's at. If only we all embraced sub-culture. Then.. wait, let me think this through.

4. I once had a really weird dream that... Do you know I don't really dream? Or at least I was told that I do, but my conscience refuses to remember. What sort of fucked up things am I trying to hide from myself? I also can't burp. I'm basically a pressure cooker waiting to explode.

5. If everyone would leave me alone, I could... work on my contraptions. I love a contraption. My house'd be decked out like Wallce's or Pee Wee Herman's at the start of 'Big Adventure'. Short Round in The Goonies was a genius. I really looked up to him. The Curiosity Show. MacGyver! So many influences. I just don't have the talent, propensity or patience to dream up, build or use them. Please don't leave me alone.

6. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? In all honesty, I said to myself I'd be happy if I could make a living from playing music. And now I do. My dream came true. I should've been more specific.

7. What celebrity do you wish would just go away? Celebrities in general. Or our fascination with them. Used to work at a newsagency and the week after Princess Di died, after being chased through the streets by paparazzi, people poured in and bought every last commemorative edition of the weekly 'weeklies'. They tried to tell me how tragic it all was. It was all so tragic. I wanted to tell my customers that they were all murderers. "You're all murderers! Now, who wants a scratchie?" Good times. Good times.

8. What one possession would you save in a fire? Well thank you for letting me leave my loved ones behind - that sorts that out. I'd save my new telly. Without doubt. It was way too hard to decide whether to go Full HD or not, Plasma or LCD. 768p or 1080i? Don't want to go through that again. I may take a contraption or two. Keep the dream alive.

9. What cartoon character do you have a crush on? Catriona Rowntree.

10. What would be your theme song? As a kid it used to be Another One Bites The Dust. My first name is Steven and the first line goes, "Steve walks warily down the street with his brim pulled way down low." As an 8-year-old and not really one for lyrics, I would strut around the playground with the bass riff in my head. Only got punched a couple of times. Not a bad result.
