Wireless Internet access is now available at a McDonald’s restaurant near you. But is this the e-revolution we’ve all been waiting for?

Businesses, governments and NGOs have spent a long time talking about the seemingly limitless potential of online engagement. In 2008, how far have we come? How is the debate around e-participation shifting? Is it no longer a matter of having to create online participation; is it now a matter of harnessing it? And if so, how can this be done?

This panel explores the success stories of the online participatory sphere and the struggles of others to make it work. ‘E-Participation: Fad or Future?’ evaluates how far we’ve come and where we’re heading next.
